The SMT Pad MUST be designed in the CAD STAGE SPECIFICALLY for HAND SOLDERING and:

• CAN be the same WIDTH or wider as the SMT leg.

 
• MUST be LONGER than the IC LEG positioned on it, to allow ease of VISUAL INSPECTION and hand soldering of the joint.
